If you're planning a trip to Zanzibar any time soon, do yourself a favour and visit the must-see Rooftop Tea House Restaurant at Emerson on Hurumzi which has beautiful views overlooking Stonetown.
You won't be going here just for the views! Everything from the ambience, floor seated dining, the service, AND the food is just incredible!
I can only comment on both times we've had the Lunch Menu Vegetarian Sinia, which is a variety of dishes including Falafels with Coconut Chutney, Vegetable Curry, Spinach Curry, Salads and Rice all for $10 per person... it's an absolute feast!
A LITTLE TIP!
Make sure you go to Emerson on HURUMZI (not Emerson Spice) and call ahead to check if/when they're open and if you need to book as it's quite popular!
ACCOMMODATION
STONETOWN / EMERSON ON HURUMZI or EMERSON SPICE
I would highly recommend spending a night or two in StoneTown and if you do, stay at either one of the Emerson Boutique Hotels as they're right in the centre of StownTown. The hotel itself is lovely, packed with character, charm and tradition.
There is plenty to see and do in StoneTown. You can spend hours (or in my case, days) wandering through the maze of alleyways filled with souvenir shops and locals going about their day. You'll want to have your camera (or phone) ready to snap up all the characters of this beautiful old part of town!
KENDWA BEACH / ZURI ZANZIBAR
If you've been wondering where the photos of me walking amongst the greenery were taken...it was at Zuri Zanzibar!
Zuri in Swahili means "beautiful", and our stay there was precisely that! From the moment you enter the gates, you know you're in for something extraordinary.
Staying at Zuri is an experience in itself! We were blown away by the beauty of the lush gardens, the pristine beach, the thoughtful design and the attention to detail. We also enjoyed the sunset bonfires on the beach, the well-made cocktails at the beach bar, the fantastic live band, the themed dinner buffets, and the beautiful spa. And, as if that is not enough, the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and accommodated.
