VISIT HATTA & STAY AT THE DAMANI LODGES
UAE / HATTA / DAMANI LODGES / WEEKEND GETAWAYS
For NYE 2019 we decided to celebrate in the new year in Hatta and get a head start on some of our new years resolutions which included going hiking and enjoying the outdoors and exploring more of the UAE's beautiful landscapes.
We stayed at the Damani Lodges for 1 night which was just perfect. We left Dubai in the morning and packed some eating and barbecue essentials (if you're planning on using the barbecue facilities) like: wood / a grill / firelighters / tongs / paper plates / cutlery / paper towel / drinking cups /...you get the idea ;)
We also took along some food that we prepared beforehand at home or were easy to prepare there (as there is no kitchen). We took some cheese and crackers (of course) and I made a hearty Mexican Quinoa Salad. We also took some grated cheese, sliced tomatoes + onions, and bread for barbecue toasties (yum) and some Veggie Sausages. It was a perfect glamping meal...and look at that view!
Once we arrived in Hatta we went for a 3/4 hour hike. They have different trails and tracks (for biking) to choose from depending on how far you want to hike. To be honest, it was a bit confusing and not clearly marked at first but once we found a trail we somehow navigated our way and had such a nice walk admiring these beautiful majestic mountains. Make sure to take enough water and to wear a hat and sunscreen!
After checking into our room, which may I add, is beautifully designed and decorated...and the bed is dangerously comfortable, we enjoyed some cheese and crackers on the deck overlooking the mountains. Soon after that, we started getting the barbecue going which was conveniently right next to our lodge. We enjoyed our dinner under the stars and I couldn't imagine a better way to spend my New Years Eve.
Make sure to go visit Hatta! It's a great escape from the city! The perfect weekend getaway! Tons of activities for all ages!
GOOD TO KNOW...
1. There is a small coffee shop and a few food trucks where you can get food from.
2. There is also Carrefour nearby.
3. The Damani Lodges DO NOT have kitchen facilities so keep that in mind if you want to make your own dinner and use the barbecue facilities. The rooms come with a very tiny mini fridge so it's better to pack a cool box.
4. Check-in is only at 4pm and they're quite strict about that so keep that in mind when you're planning your activities for the day.
5. If you're going during the cooler months remember to take some warm clothes as it can get quite chilly at night
When you're making the booking, try to request Damani Lodge no.17 (pictured below). It has the best view to enjoy the sunset and the balcony is nice and sunny in the morning. And it's also the most private one as it faces away from the resort.
